Does Technology Have a Positive or Negative Impact on Humans? // Diagnostic Essay 2019

The introduction of technology is a blessing to humans. It changed the way that humans live and think drastically. Although some may argue that technology has a more negative impact on humans, however, in terms of the overall contribution that technology has granted -- it leaves a more positive impact. Nowadays, not only is technology being used in industries, hospitals, and trades, it is also used in education.

The use of technology in classes is heavily based on “the learning model” that the school’s using (Source 3). If a school inserts technology into existing learning models, it will produce begrudging or negative results. However, if incorporated correctly, technology will help students develop particular skills, especially with maths. Learning software will be “adopting the student’s learning level and letting the student learn at the right pace” through personalization (Source 3). This means that the software would be able to help the students with the knowledge they’re lacking, saving them confusing in the class.

Research on online courses also shows that “‘blended’ courses produce similar outcomes as in-person courses” (Source 3), which would help drive down costs for education, while still obtaining similar education as in-person classes. Technology does prove a positive outcome for education, as well as other advantages that involve industrialization.

In the modern world, factory machines carry out most of the repetitive tasks at a much faster pace and as a result, “workers produce much more goods than a century ago” while working less (Source 2). The enabling of machines doing dangerous tasks also allows employed to work in a much safer environment. With the improvement of factories comes improved daily lives and increased productivity.

In hospitals, technology helps to diagnose patients quicker and “combat very harmful viruses and bacteria”, consequently saving more lives (Source 2). Similarly, if more people were saved from deadly diseases, that leads to more people communicating with each other. Communication is enhanced through the invention of computers, meaning “exchanges are faster and companies can communicate more easily with foreign countries” (Source 2), saving more time, and therefore, money. Thanks to the invention of online banking, trading became easier for individuals, enterprises, and the whole world.

In the world today, people cannot live without them. Not only does it make the students learn more and fix the parts they are lacking in, but they also help the teachers to learn about their students’ level of understanding. Technology has improved daily lives as well. It has benefited hospitals with inventions such as X-Ray and PET scanners to diagnose people quicker, therefore saving lives. Internet and computers are important inventions that changed the world: exchanges are faster with the internet, money is saved, and individuals can connect to each other through the internet. The positive outcomes of technology outweigh the negative, if used correctly, it will be beneficial.
